Mercy on the Body
2 Corinthians 12:10Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Content for Christ's sake with a hard list. When I am weak, then I am strong—paradox lived, not slogan. October will hand you at least one item from Paul's inventory. Contentment here is settled trust, not denial. Strength arrives on the far side of admitted weakness. Stop waiting to feel strong before you obey. Confess weakness, cling to Christ, discover strength that is not yours. Insults and hardships become places His power shows. Content with is active acceptance under sovereignty. For the sake of Christ keeps the motive clean. Weak today can be strong in Him today. Hold both halves of the sentence.
PrayerLord, for Your sake make me content in weakness—when I am weak, be my strength, and rest Your power on me. Amen.
