Hope for Tomorrow's Body

Therefore we don't faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. Outer wasting and inner renewing run on parallel tracks. Lose heart is the temptation when bodies and circumstances decline. Day by day renewing is quiet and real. October aging, illness, and fatigue can stare at the outer self only. Look also at the inner self under grace. Renewal is daily—ask for today's portion. Do not lose heart means choose courage based on what God is doing inside. Wasting away is acknowledged, not denied. Hope does not require pretending the outer is fine. Feed the inner life with Scripture, prayer, and fellowship while the outer creaks. Day by day is enough pace for saints in frail frames.

PrayerLord, my outer self may waste away—renew my inner self day by day, and keep me from losing heart. Amen.
