Carry Each Other

For this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' They began to celebrate.

Luke 15:24

For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to celebrate. Dead/alive, lost/found—resurrection language for a returned child. Celebration is the right response. October homes and churches must prefer parties over lectures when repentance comes. Was dead names how serious estrangement is; is alive again names grace. Found is the father's joy word. Begin to celebrate without delaying for perfect speeches. If you have been the older brother resenting the feast, lay down the clipboard. If you are the found one, receive the party without arguing you deserve less forever. Heaven celebrates returned people. Join the music. Kill the calf of bitterness. Alive again is worth a feast every time.

PrayerFather, thank You that the lost are found and the dead live again—teach me to celebrate returns the way You do. Amen.
