Contentment Rising
Isaiah 43:2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Through waters, rivers, fire—passage is assumed, abandonment is not. I will be with you is the center. Overwhelm and consume are limited by presence. October will include hard passages; this promise does not cancel them, it accompanies them. You pass through, not around. Faith means walking wet and walking hot with God beside you. Say no to the lie that deep water proves His absence. Call on the With-You God midstream. Rivers rise; they need not own you. Flames hurt; they need not finish you. Presence is the miracle that outranks escape.
PrayerLord, when I pass through waters and fire, be with me—keep overwhelm and consuming flame from having the last word. Amen.
