Love Hopes
Matthew 18:21Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?"
Then Peter came up and said to Him, Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times? Peter wants a countable limit. Seven sounds generous to him. Relationships that keep score eventually break. September closeness in school and work resets old tallies—refuse the clipboard. Forgiveness that asks how often is already drifting toward refusal. Bring the question to Jesus, then prepare for an answer larger than your math. The point is a lifestyle of release, not naïveté about boundaries. Forgive from the heart while seeking wisdom about trust. How often meets God's endless mercy toward you. Count less. Release more. Let grace interrupt your arithmetic before bitterness finishes the spreadsheet.
PrayerLord, I confess my urge to limit forgiveness—teach me a heart that releases people more often than my math prefers. Amen.
