A Generous God
Hebrews 13:16But don't forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Doing good and sharing are sacrifices—worship with hands and wallet. Neglect is the danger, not ignorance. Pleasing God reframes mercy as liturgy. Share what you have, not what you invent. August schedules neglect goodness by filling every gap with self. Schedule good. Share deliberately. Sacrifices pleasing to God may never trend; they still rise as fragrance. Check a neglect: a person you meant to help, a gift you meant to give, a meal you meant to bring. Do it. Sharing resists the myth that faith is only inward. God is pleased when His people open doors and wallets. Let pleasure to God motivate you more than human thanks.
PrayerLord, I do not want to neglect doing good and sharing—receive these sacrifices as pleasing to You. Amen.
