Held Through the Bill
Hebrews 13:5Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you."
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Freedom from love of money is paired with contentment and with God's presence promise. The reason clause matters: we can release greedy clinging because He will not leave. Love of money is a rival attachment. Keep your life free—ongoing guardrails. Content with what you have is present-tense practice. Never leave nor forsake is the better security. When fear of forsakenness drives earning and keeping, answer with this promise. August bills are real; God's nearness is more ultimate. Budget as a free person, not as an orphan. Generosity becomes possible when forsakenness is off the table. He stays. Therefore you can open your hand.
PrayerLord, You will never leave nor forsake me—free me from love of money, and teach contentment with what I have. Amen.
