Ecclesiastes 4:12If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Resistance multiplies with companions. Alone, you are easier to prevail against—temptation, injustice, despair. Two withstand; three strand into a cord hard to snap. Build cords: marriage under God, close friends, small group, siblings in faith. Threefold may hint at God in the bond—human loyalty plus divine help. August conflicts and pressures will test cords; reinforce yours with time together and honest speech. If your cord is fraying, repair it before crisis. If you have no cord, ask God for one and take a relational risk this week. Prevailing enemies love isolation. Withstand together. A cord not quickly broken is worth the awkwardness of interdependence.
PrayerLord, braid my life into a cord not quickly broken—loyal people and Your strong presence holding together. Amen.
