Choose Tenderness
Ecclesiastes 4:10For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up.
For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. Falling is assumed; lifting is the question. Solo living looks strong until the ground rises suddenly—illness, sin exposure, grief, failure. Woe names the danger of isolation. Arrange your life so someone can lift you, and so you can lift another. That means vulnerable friendship, church belonging, and refusing the pride that hides falls. August travels and busy weeks can thin these bonds; reinforce them on purpose. If you have fallen, call the lifter. If you see a fall, extend a hand without humiliating speech. God lifts through people. Do not wait for a crisis to invent community. Build the lift network while you still stand.
PrayerLord, when I fall, provide lifters—and make me ready to lift others. Save me from the woe of isolated falling. Amen.
