He Fills What Is Empty
Luke 6:38Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Jesus teaches generous measure with vivid marketplace packing—pressed, shaken, running over. Giving opens you to receiving in God's economy of mercy. Measure used becomes measure returned—sobering for stingy hearts, encouraging for open ones. This is not a casino of charitable deposits; it is kingdom wisdom about how God forms people. Inspect your measure: teaspoons toward others, barrels expected from God? Give with the measure you hope to meet. Running over belongs in the lap—personal, abundant. Try a larger measure this week in money, forgiveness, or time. Rest in the Giver who invents running-over grace. Stinginess shrinks the soul before it shrinks the wallet.
PrayerLord, enlarge the measure I use toward others. Teach me to give freely and to trust Your running-over kindness. Amen.
