Bread for the Journey
2 Corinthians 9:6Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Sowing and reaping school generosity. Sparing sowing is cautious seed-hoarding; bountiful sowing trusts God with open hands. Reaping matches—not always dollar-for-dollar, but in God's economy of fruit. Paul is raising support for needy saints; the principle still searches your budget. Where are you sowing sparingly from fear? Where can you sow bountifully toward gospel and mercy? Bountiful is measured by your means and heart, not by someone else's highlight reel. Sow into good ground. Expect God to handle reaping. July harvests begin with seed you are willing to release now. Decline both guilt-driven dumping and fear-driven withholding. Sow as worship.
PrayerLord, teach me to sow bountifully rather than sparingly. I trust You with the reaping as I give toward good work. Amen.
