Love Chooses Again
1 Peter 4:8And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Above all sets priority when summer schedules scatter attention. Earnest love is vigorous, not thin politeness. Covering a multitude of sins is not hiding abuse; it is refusing to advertise every offense, choosing forgiveness and forbearance like a cloak over ordinary failures. Communities drown when every fault is livestreamed. Keep loving—continuity under irritation. Earnestly—put weight into it. Where a multitude of small sins has piled between you and someone, cover what love should cover and confess what love should confess. July heat makes tempers short; this verse lengthens patience. Love that covers still tells truth about serious harm to proper people. Most daily frictions need covering more than a tribunal.
PrayerLord, help me keep loving earnestly, covering what love should cover and dealing honestly with what must be faced. Amen.
