The Father's Care
Deuteronomy 8:18But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.
You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Independence season can baptize self-made myths. Moses interrupts: remember the Lord—He gives power to get wealth for covenant purposes, not ego monuments. Power to get wealth includes skill, opportunity, health, and community—gifts, not pure self-creation. Remembering keeps gratitude upstream of every July paycheck. Wealth aimed at confirming covenant means generosity, justice, and worship, not hoarding as identity. If you have little, still remember the Giver of any power you do have. If you have much, refuse the amnesia that calls it solely yours. Write a short thanks before you budget this month. Covenant memory changes spending.
PrayerLord, I remember You—the One who gives power to get wealth. Keep me from self-made myths and aim my means at Your covenant. Amen.
