Body Under Blessing
Proverbs 17:22A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Joy as medicine does not mock the crushed; it tells truth about inner life and bodily felt experience. Crushed spirits dry people out—sleep, appetite, hope. Joyful hearts are not shallow people; they are people who have found reasons for gladness under God even in hard months. June closes with an invitation to receive joy as something that helps heal, and to treat crushed spirits with care, prayer, and patient presence. Go after joy in thanksgiving, friendship, worship, and honest humor. If your spirit is crushed, tell someone and ask for help; drying bones need more than slogans. Good medicine includes community and, when needed, professional care as stewardship. Beg God to restore gladness without faking it.
PrayerLord, where my heart can be joyful, make it good medicine. Where my spirit is crushed, restore life to dry bones. Amen.
