Favor in the Ordinary

Remove far from me falsehood and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me.

Proverbs 30:8

Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me. Agur's prayer asks for enough—neither poverty's temptation nor riches' temptation—and for distance from lies. Needful food is daily dependence. Ambition for extreme wealth and panic about poverty both can birth falsehood. Wait on Him for the middle path of sufficiency with honesty. June budgets can pray this: enough for need, freedom from the lie that more would finally secure you. Remove falsehood in advertising yourself, in hiding spending, in pretending strength. Feed me becomes a humble request God loves to hear. Trust Him for needful provision today. Contentment is not laziness; it is refusal to let greed or fear script your mouth.

PrayerLord, keep falsehood far from me. Give me neither poverty nor riches, but needful food and an honest heart. Amen.
