Healing Faith
Proverbs 16:24Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Words can be medicine or poison. Gracious speech is not flattery; it is truth with sweetness that strengthens. Honeycomb imagery invites savoring—slow, nourishing, pleasant. Soul and body both receive health from such words, which anyone who has lived under chronic criticism already knows by contrast. Offer gracious words today on purpose: encouragement that is specific, correction that is gentle, blessing spoken over a child or friend. Receive gracious words without batting them away in false humility. If your mouth has been a vinegar bottle, ask God to change the climate of your tongue. Health to the body includes the relief of walking into a kind room. Be that room for someone.
PrayerLord, make my words like honeycomb—sweet to the soul and health to the body. Heal what harsh speech has harmed. Amen.
