Held in the In-Between
Proverbs 21:5The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Diligence plans; haste lunges. Abundance here is the fruit of steady work under wisdom, not a promise that markets never break. Poverty tagged to haste warns against impulsive financial theater. Diligent planning includes budgets, skill-building, rest enough to think, and saying no to shiny shortcuts. If haste has marked your week—impulse buys, skipped due diligence, panic career moves—slow down before poverty's proverb becomes your story. Lead surely is confidence about direction, not arrogance about control. God works through diligence. Plan, pray, revise, continue. Abundance that arrives this way can be shared without the shame that follows hasty schemes. Choose the slower faithful plan again this afternoon.
PrayerLord, form diligence in my planning and save me from haste that leans toward poverty. Establish steady work under Your care. Amen.
