Soft Landing for Pain
Psalm 119:50This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has revived me.
This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your promise gives me life. Comfort in affliction is no cliché when you have felt revived mid-pain by a word God spoke. Scripture does that—suddenly a line lands and breath returns. Affliction remains affliction; comfort does not require denial. Hold the promise that has kept you before, and return to it when night thoughts accelerate. Life-giving words are meant to be reused, not archived after one good morning. Read slowly until one sentence becomes companionable again. Then let comfort move outward: share that promise with someone else in affliction without forcing a tidy ending on their story. God's word revives. Stay near it while you also pursue wise care for the body He gave. Return to the line that once revived you until breath lengthens.
PrayerLord, comfort me in affliction through Your life-giving word. Revive me again, and help me carry comfort to others. Amen.
