Honor and Warmth
Ephesians 4:3Being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eager is an effort word. Unity is given in the Spirit, yet it must be kept like something precious that tears if neglected. Bond of peace is not fake agreement; it is committed peacemaking among people who belong to one Lord. Eagerness shows up as quick repentance, slow offense, and refusal to traffic in partial stories that inflame. Where a relationship in your church or home is fraying, take one maintaining step today: a clarifying question, an apology, a request for help mediating. Laziness toward unity is still a choice. The Spirit supplies the unity; you supply eagerness. Peace as a bond can hold under pressure when people treat it as holy work.
PrayerLord, make me eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Show me the next peacemaking step. Amen.
