Proverbs 3:5Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. All-heart trust confronts partial faith that keeps a private ledger of backup plans worshiped as saviors. Understanding is a gift; leaning on it as final authority is a different posture. Provision decisions—budgets, jobs, generosity—tempt self-reliance dressed as prudence. Prudence remains wise; autonomy as religion does not. Trust with the whole heart means bringing the spreadsheet into prayer, seeking counsel, and obeying when God's ways cut against instinct. Do not despise your mind; dethrone it. Lean toward the Lord when the numbers scare you and when they make you proud. Wholehearted trust can still plan; it simply refuses to enthrone the plan.
PrayerLord, I trust You with all my heart. Keep me from leaning on my understanding as if it were God. Amen.
