Love Is Patient Still
Psalm 56:4In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Praising God's word, trusting God, and relativizing human threats belong together. Flesh can do real things—harm, reject, disappoint—yet it is not ultimate. Love relationships often inflate what another person can do to your peace until that person becomes a functional god. Praise Scripture until human voices shrink to size. Trust God with the conversation you fear. Refusing fear does not mean denying risk; it means denying flesh the throne. Walk into the hard room with a praised word in your pocket. People remain important; they stop being absolute. That shift frees you to love without terror's scriptwriting.
PrayerLord, I praise Your word and put my trust in You. Free me from fear of what flesh can do, and teach me to love bravely. Amen.
