Daily Bread Again
Psalm 40:2He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. Salvation arrives as extraction and establishment—pulled out, then planted. You may know the miry season: sticky despair, habits that sink you, shame that feels like mud. Rock underfoot is gift, not self-construction. Secure steps follow secure footing; you walk differently because you were set somewhere solid. Remember a rescue God already performed, and refuse to romanticize the pit. If you still feel miry today, cry for drawing-up again and take the next firm step on the rock—confession, help, Scripture, a walk outside. Stability is meant to be lived, not only celebrated in testimony language.
PrayerLord, You drew me up and set my feet on a rock. Keep my steps secure, and pull me free wherever I still sink. Amen.
