Closer Than Before
Psalm 37:7Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him. Don't fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of the one who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out evil schemes. Provision envy gets named and forbidden in the same breath as rest. Fretting is an inner burn that accomplishes nothing except theft of peace. Someone else's crooked prospering can hypnotize you into panic spending, bitter speech, or distrust of God's timing. Rest is an act of defiance against that hypnotism. Wait patiently—active trust, not passive collapse. Do your honest work, share what you should, and refuse the scoreboard that only tracks villains who seem ahead. The Lord sees schemes and timelines. Your job is rest that still obeys, not fretting that pretends to be strategy.
PrayerLord, I rest and wait patiently in You. Free me from fretting over someone else's prospering path. Amen.
