Peace in the Pain
1 Peter 2:9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Identity here is communal and purposeful. Chosen is not elitist smugness; it is mercy that assigns belonging and mission. Darkness once claimed you; marvelous light is your new country. When illness or shame tries to rename you as only a problem, answer with this people-language: you belong to God for proclamation. Proclaim excellencies not only on stages—also in quiet gratitude, patient caregiving, and refusing despair's script. Let identity heal amnesia about who called you. Your healing story is never only private; it becomes witness in the light.
PrayerLord, thank You that I belong to Your people to proclaim Your excellence. Heal any amnesia about the light You called me into. Amen.
