Stillness Over Stress
James 4:8Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Nearness is something you can step toward because grace already made a way. Double-mindedness wants God and a pet sin, prayer and a secret allegiance. Cleansing hands and purifying hearts means concrete repentance—not vague spiritual mood work. Eastertide is a fitting season to close the gap you have maintained with polite distance. Draw near in Scripture and honest prayer. Confess the split loyalties by name. Expect God to meet you; James says He will. Nearness then reshapes how you treat people—less divided speech, more wholehearted love. Holiness follows welcome when the heart stops hedging.
PrayerLord, I draw near—cleanse my hands and purify my heart. Meet me as I turn from double-mindedness to You. Amen.
