Restored Joy
James 4:7Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Order matters: submission first, resistance second. Autonomous spiritual combat without yielding to God becomes another pride project. In seasons of bodily struggle or mental pressure, the enemy loves accusation, despair, and isolation. Submit means yield your timeline, your self-diagnosis as final authority, and your right to bitterness. Then resist—refuse lies, refuse destructive escapes, refuse isolation that pretends strength. Fleeing is the devil's movement when resisted under God's rule; you do not need theatrical methods. A submitted life can say no with quiet firmness. Ask a believer to stand with you so resistance is not a lonely myth. Hold both submission and resistance in the order James gives.
PrayerLord, I submit to You and resist the devil. Make my resistance firm and my submission glad, especially where I feel weak. Amen.
