Your Need Is Seen
Hebrews 12:2Looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God. Gaze direction decides whether endurance lasts. Author means He started this faith life; perfecter means He brings it to completion. He endured by joy ahead—reunion, redemption, a people saved—not by pretending the cross felt light. Shame tried to define Him; He despised its verdict. When your week piles shame or pain, look where He looked: through suffering toward joy secured. Do not invent a private spirituality that avoids the cross-shaped path. Fix your attention on Jesus until lesser spectacles lose their grip and courage returns for the next step.
PrayerJesus, author and perfecter of faith, I look to You. Tune my endurance to the joy that carried You through the cross. Amen.
