Gentle Restoration

Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

Surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set before you. Some weights are obviously sinful; others are simply exhausting distractions that slow a healing life. Clinging sin loves familiar grooves—resentment, escape, harsh self-talk. Endurance is not a sprint personality; it is continuing when the course is long. Picture toeing the line of an ordinary Tuesday: what are you carrying that Christ never assigned? Set one weight down on purpose. Remember you run among a people, not as a lone spectacle. Eyes can lift because others finished faithful, and Jesus waits at the center of the course with mercy for tired runners.

PrayerLord, help me lay aside weight and clinging sin. Give me endurance for the race You set, surrounded by Your people. Amen.
