A Living Sacrifice

For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7

Holy Week can tighten the chest: old griefs, crowded calendars, fear dressed as spiritual seriousness. Paul reminds Timothy that fear is not the gift God handed us. What He gave is power that can obey, love that can stay soft, and self-control that can choose the next right step when emotions spike. Power here is not volume; it is Spirit-enabled strength to keep faith when the story feels heavy. Love keeps courage from turning cold. Self-control keeps zeal from becoming chaos. Before you enter the next gathering or quiet hour this week, notice which of those three gifts you are refusing to use. Receive them again as gifts, not personality upgrades you must manufacture alone. Walk into the days ahead accompanied, not empty-handed.

PrayerFather, replace fear's grip with the power, love, and self-control You give. Steady me through this holy week with courage that still loves. Amen.
