Abide Today
1 Thessalonians 5:17Pray without ceasing.
Pray without ceasing sounds impossible until you hear it as continual return rather than nonstop sentences. Unceasing is a posture of ongoing dependence—short prayers woven through work, parenting, commuting. Lent loves this habit. Set cues: kettle boils, pray; email opens, pray; worry rises, pray. Without ceasing also means do not quit the life of prayer when answers delay. Keep the line open. Formal times of prayer still matter; they feed the continual habit. If you have gone silent for days, restart without a guilt essay. God welcomes the resumed conversation. Make today a string of small addresses to the Father. Continual prayer can be as brief as a breath with a Name. Frequency matters more than eloquence here. Restart the conversation with God without a prologue of shame.
PrayerLord, train me in unceasing prayer—an open line more than an unbroken speech. Keep me returning all day. Amen.
