Holy Persistence
1 Thessalonians 5:16Rejoice always.
Rejoice always—two words that challenge seasonal moods and honest grief alike. Always cannot mean constant giddiness; it means a durable undercurrent of joy in the Lord that can coexist with tears. Lent is serious and still commanded into joy because God remains worthy. Practice micro-rejoicing: thank God for one true gift before complaint gets the microphone. Always is learned in repetition. If depression weighs heavy, seek help and still let this verse be a gentle invitation rather than a club. Joy always is Spirit fruit as much as decision. Bring that request to Him plainly. Nurture it with worship, sleep, and community. Refuse to let grimness pose as maturity. Always-joy is loyalty to God when weather inside you changes. Live out a short glad sentence before the complaint lands.
PrayerLord of joy, teach me to rejoice always—not as denial, but as loyalty to Your goodness in every weather. Amen.
