Colossians 3:2Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.
Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Direction of mind is a command because default settings pull downward into obsession with status, stuff, and slight. Above means Christ's reign and your life hidden with Him. Earthly things include necessary duties; the issue is fixation that crowns them. Lent fasting trains attention. Work a midday reset: look up through a verse or a prayer before reentering tasks. Mindset shapes craving and speech. People with above-set minds still change diapers and pay bills; they just refuse to treat those as ultimate. Aim the mind first; behavior follows more readily. Above-minded people become more useful on earth, not less, because idols stop driving the calendar. Reset attention before envy writes your next hour.
PrayerLord, lift my mind to what is above. Untangle me from earthbound obsession without making me useless on the earth I still serve. Amen.
