Faith Over Sight
Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
Crucified with Christ, yet living—Paul's paradox of union. The life now lived in the flesh is by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Personal pronouns matter: me. Lent is not anonymous spirituality; it is response to love that named you at the cross. Self as autonomous ruler has been dethroned; Christ lives in the believer. Faith is how this life operates day by day. When ego tries a coup, remember the crucifixion already accomplished in solidarity with Jesus. Then act as someone inhabited by Christ—kindness, courage, purity. Loved and given-for is the fuel. Return to that clause whenever duty feels cold. Union with Christ makes "me" the site of His life, not the throne of endless self-reference. Yield the hour you are in.
PrayerChrist who lives in me, I trust the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Live Your life through my ordinary hours. Amen.
