Future and a Hope
1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Temptation feels uniquely tailored; Paul says it is common to humanity. That alone reduces shame's isolation. God is faithful: He limits what you face and provides escape so you can endure. Escape may be a door, a phone call, a sudden pause, a Scripture remembered, or leaving the room. Faithfulness does not mean you feel strong; it means God is active in the trial's boundaries. Lent fasting can expose appetites that usually hide. When desire surges, look for the provided way rather than negotiating with the temptation. Common struggle means someone else understands—seek that help. Take the exit without delay; provided ways expire when ignored. Escape routes only help people who take them without a farewell speech to the temptation. Move quickly when the way opens.
PrayerFaithful God, when temptation feels custom-designed against me, remind me it is common—and that You provide escape space. Help me take the way out. Amen.
