Safe in Him
1 Corinthians 2:9But as it is written, "Things which an eye didn't see, and an ear didn't hear, which didn't enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him."
Eye, ear, and heart cannot invent what God prepares for those who love Him. Paul uses Isaiah to humble human forecasting. Future mercy exceeds imagination—without authorizing lazy speculation that ignores Scripture's clearer promises. Lent waiting can feel sensory-empty: you want to see change now. This verse stretches patience toward prepared goodness you have not yet spotted. Love for God remains the relational context. Prepare your love through obedience while God prepares what you cannot blueprint. Wonder belongs in mature faith. When cynicism says nothing new can happen, remember the gap between human sensing and divine preparing. Stay ready to recognize gifts that arrive in unfamiliar packaging. Prepared goodness can surprise you in Lent's quieter gifts—clarity, reconciliation, a desire for God you did not manufacture.
PrayerFather, prepare what my senses cannot invent. Keep me humble about how much I have not yet seen of Your love for those who love You. Amen.
