Christmas Light

For, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Romans 10:13

Whoever again—wide mercy with a named door. Calling on the Lord for salvation remains the open invitation beneath Lent's disciplines. If you have complicated the gospel into a self-improvement syllabus, this verse simplifies without becoming shallow. Call. The Name is enough focus for a drowning prayer. It also fuels hope for people you love who seem far: whoever is not a tiny club. Keep calling for yourself as needs arise this week—salvation's ongoing cry as well as its beginning. Ritual without calling is empty; calling with reverence is life. Hold the breadth of "whoever" until it corrects both despair about others and presumption about yourself. The Lord who saves is still near to the cry. Keep the invitation simple enough to offer a neighbor and deep enough to steady your own night fears. Salvation's door stays personal and wide at once.

PrayerLord, I call on Your name for saving help. Widen my confidence that whoever includes me and the person I struggle to hope for. Amen.
