Hope Awake
Romans 12:2Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Conforming is easy because the world supplies ready-made patterns for desire, success, and fear. Transformation comes by renewing the mind—an ongoing renovation, not a single seminar. Proving God's will means living into what is good, pleasing, and mature as thinking changes. Lent practices—fasting, almsgiving, prayer—support mind renewal when they are paired with Scripture that reinterprets what you want. Notice one mold you have been pressed into: cynicism, comparison, hurry. Replace it with a practiced truth. Renewing is repetitive; thoughts return like birds and must be shooed again. Ask friends to reflect where you sound most like the age and least like Christ. Transformation is God's work through means you actually use. Renewing the mind is Monday work as much as Sunday inspiration. Interrupt one conforming thought before it becomes a conforming habit.
PrayerLord, renew my mind away from the world's mold. Show me what is good and pleasing in Your will as I practice new thoughts. Amen.
