The Rock Holds

For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers.

Romans 8:38

Paul is persuaded—convinced through gospel reasoning—that a long inventory cannot sever God's purpose. Death, life, angels, rulers, present, future, powers: the list is meant to exhaust your imagination of threats. Mid-list pauses matter; today we sit with the persuasion itself. Certainty here is relational, not cocky. Lent can shake feelings; persuasion grounded in Christ's work can remain. If anxiety keeps inventing new categories of doom, add them mentally to Paul's list and notice they still cannot outrank God's grip. Persuasion grows by rehearsing the gospel until panic's arguments sound thinner. Speak the beginning of the sentence when fear wakes you: I am persuaded. Then refuse to finish the morning as if you were unheld. Confidence is a stewardship; feed it with truth rather than with denial of real dangers.

PrayerLord, settle my confidence where Paul settled his. Nothing on this list gets to own me more than Your hold on me. Amen.
