Calm in the Counting
Psalm 65:11You crown the year with your bounty. Your carts overflow with abundance.
God crowns the year with bounty; carts overflow with abundance. Midwinter may not look like harvest, yet the psalm remembers agricultural fullness as God's doing. "Crown the year" invites year-long gratitude, not only November. Abundance language must stay tethered to thanksgiving and generosity, never to pride. If your year feels uncrowned so far, ask for eyes to see mercies that do not look like overflow—stability, growth in patience, help that arrived quietly. If you do see bounty, open the cart toward others. Provision celebrated selfishly curdles. Mark the first month with a gift that acknowledges God as the source of whatever overflow you touch. Overflow that never leaves your driveway has not yet learned the name of God rightly.
PrayerLord, crown this year with Your bounty in the ways You choose. Make me thankful in lean days and generous when carts feel full. Amen.
