Love That Sees
John 15:13Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
Greatest love lays down life for friends. Jesus defines the summit and then walks it. Friendship here is covenant-deep, not casual networking. Laying down life includes the cross and also daily deaths to selfishness for another's good. Measure your friendships by willingness to inconvenience yourself, tell hard truth, and stay. You may not face a literal cross today, yet you will face chances to put someone else's need ahead of your comfort. Take one. Greater love is not only admired in Jesus; it is imitated in small costs that add up to a cross-shaped life. Let friendship become holy ground again. Small daily layings-down train you for the rare moments that ask for more. Choose one friend's good and quietly pay a real cost for it today.
PrayerJesus, You laid down Your life for me. Teach me greater love in ordinary friendships—costly, loyal, and patterned after You. Amen.
