Cherish and Keep
John 13:34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.
A new commandment wears an old word—love—with a new measure: as I have loved you. Jesus' pattern becomes the standard, not generic sentiment. His love washed feet, told truth, and walked toward the cross. Loving one another by that pattern will disrupt convenience. In church and home, ask what "as I have loved you" requires by Friday. Maybe initiative toward someone overlooked. Maybe apology without defending yourself. The newness is the Christ-measure. Recipients should be able to sense more than niceness; they should brush against Jesus' kind of care. Let this commandment land on one name and one action today. Foot-washing love will find a towel and a few minutes you thought you lacked. Measure your love against His cross, not against your mood.
PrayerJesus, You loved me first and fully. Help me love others by Your pattern—concrete, humble, and steady—beginning with one person You place on my heart. Amen.
