Mercies New

It is because of the Lord's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail.

Lamentations 3:22

New Year's Day opens under mercy, not under a threat. Jeremiah's lament turns a corner: we are not consumed because the Lord's loving kindnesses hold, and His compassions do not fail. Resolutions have a place; compassion is the floor under them. You enter January still breathing because kindness found you again overnight. Failures from last year did not exhaust God's pity. Let that truth set the tone before you load the calendar with demands. Compassion that does not fail means you can confess what needs confessing without fearing erasure. Plan diligently, then place the plans inside mercy. When self-critique rises before breakfast, answer with this verse. The year begins with a God whose love outlasts your inconsistency and whose compassion meets you on day one.

PrayerLord of loyal love, thank You that we are not consumed. Start this year with me in fresh compassion, and teach me to plan from mercy rather than from fear. Amen.
