John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
God loved the world in this way: He gave His Son so that believers would not perish but have eternal life. New Year's Eve gathers noise; this verse gathers meaning. Love gave. The gift is a Person. The result is rescue from perishing and a life that lasts. Before midnight lists and countdowns, sit with the word "whoever." It includes the year you are leaving and the one you fear entering. Belief is the open hand. Eternal life begins now in knowing God and continues beyond death. Thank Him for the Son as the year's final act of worship. Let resolutions grow from gratitude rather than from shame. The love that gave Jesus is the safest place to stand while a calendar turns.
PrayerFather, thank You for giving Your Son. As this year ends, I believe again; hold me in eternal life and send me into tomorrow loved. Amen.
