Good News of Great Joy
Luke 2:10The angel said to them, "Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people."
Christmas Eve opens with an angel's first words to shepherds: Don't be afraid. Good news of great joy is for all people. Fear is interrupted by announcement, not by the shepherds' credentials. Night shift workers become the first audience—ordinary people in ordinary dark. If anxiety has wrapped your Christmas Eve, let the angelic order stand: fear does not get to host the night. Great joy is bigger than matching pajamas and perfect timing. It is news about a Savior. Share one piece of that good news tonight—maybe a short reading from Luke at the table, maybe a quiet text to someone lonely. All-people joy includes the guest who feels out of place and the family member who dreads the holiday. Make room.
PrayerGod of great joy, drive out fear on this holy night. Let good news about Jesus reach my household and overflow toward someone who feels left out. Amen.
