Redeemed Heart
Matthew 22:37Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'"
The greatest commandment aims love Godward—with heart, soul, and mind. Love for people flows from this center; reverse the order and relationships become idols or projects. Whole-self love means affection, will, and thought gathered toward God. Advent worship fights fragmentation: shopping pulls the heart, stress scatters the mind, fatigue dulls the soul. Re-gather. Sing a carol as prayer. Read a Gospel birth narrative slowly. Confess where lesser loves have claimed first place. Loving God wholly does not erase human loves; it orders them so spouses, children, and friends are cherished without being worshiped. Let today be a re-aiming of your deepest loyalty before the holiday rush peaks. Wholehearted love will show up in what you refuse as much as in what you celebrate tonight.
PrayerLord my God, I love You with the heart, soul, and mind I can offer now. Reorder my loves, and keep You first as Christmas draws near. Amen.
