Ordinary Holy Ground
Matthew 17:20He said to them, "Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
Mustard-seed faith moves what looks immovable—not as a magic trick for shopping lists, but as trust that takes Jesus at His word. The disciples' unbelief had blocked them; Jesus points to even tiny genuine faith. Mountains in your path may be bitterness, a locked family conflict, or a habit that feels geological. Faith the size of a seed still has life in it. Stop despising small trust. Pray a plain prayer over the obstacle without theatrical length. Then take the corresponding step of obedience. Advent reminds us that God specializes in small beginnings that change landscapes—a child, a stable, a seed. Let belief become active reliance rather than a feeling you try to inflate. Tiny faith that actually leans on Jesus outweighs loud claims that never leave the chair.
PrayerJesus, grow mustard-seed faith in me. Aim it at the mountain You want moved, and save me from unbelief that quits before it asks. Amen.
