The Name Above
Matthew 6:10Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
Kingdom come; will be done—on earth as in heaven. Advent longs for the King's reign to arrive in fullness while practicing surrender in the meantime. "Your will" confronts the tiny kingdoms we build in living rooms and inboxes. Praying this line honestly may scare you if you have been clinging to a preferred script. Bring that fear into the open. God's will is not random cruelty; in Christ it is wise love that may still cost you. Seek the Kingdom in public life and in private habits. Yield one decision today—an apology, a generosity, a refusal to retaliate—as earth learning heaven's pattern. Let Christmas preparations include this petition, not only menus and travel plans. Surrender spoken in the morning will likely be tested by afternoon interruptions—return to the petition then.
PrayerKing Jesus, let Your Kingdom come in me and around me. Bend my will toward Yours until earth in my small corner looks more like heaven. Amen.
