Open Hands to Heaven

Pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.

Matthew 6:9

Jesus teaches prayer that begins with "Our Father" and a plea that God's name be treated as holy. Advent prayer can rush toward requests; Jesus starts with relationship and reverence. Holiness of the Name reorders what we dare to ask. You approach not a vending machine but a Father whose character is set apart. Saying "Our" keeps prayer from collapsing into isolated spirituality—you belong to a people. Let that slow start change the tone of what follows. December petitions about gifts, travel, and family peace land differently when God's reputation matters more than your comfort. Prayer school begins here, every morning again. Holiness at the start of prayer protects you from treating God like a courier for holiday preferences.

PrayerOur Father in heaven, keep Your name holy in my thoughts and speech. Teach me to pray from reverence before I reach for requests. Amen.
