Softened Heart

Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Good works are meant to be seen in a way that ends in the Father's glory, not your brand. Shining light includes generosity that meets real needs—shared meals, paid bills for someone struggling, time given without an invoice. Provision becomes praise when giving directs eyes upward. Examine motives: do you help to be applauded, or to make the Father look generous? Both the deed and the direction of credit matter. This December, plan one good work that costs you something and include no announcement thread. If thanks come, deflect them gently toward God. Public faith without public boasting is possible. Let your light clarify who deserves glory when kindness shows up in a dark week. Quiet generosity often preaches louder than a caption, especially when someone is quietly drowning in December expenses.

PrayerFather in heaven, let my good works shine toward Your glory. Purify my motives, open my hands, and make generosity a witness, not a performance. Amen.
