Matthew 5:14You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden.
Jesus calls disciples light and a city on a hill—visible by nature, not by self-promotion. Hiding is the odd choice for what is meant to illuminate. In Advent's dark mornings, this identity matters. You carry the light of Christ into ordinary rooms: office kitchens, school pickups, hospital hallways. Visibility is not the same as performance. It is integrity that can be seen without a spotlight craving. Ask where you have been dimming on purpose—quiet about your faith from fear, or inconsistent so no one expects much. A hill-city cannot apologize for being noticeable. Shine by the good that points beyond you. Let people encounter warmth and clarity that make them wonder about the Father, especially as Christmas conversations open naturally.
PrayerJesus, Light of the world, make me an honest lamp. Free me from hiding, and let my visible life point neighbors toward You. Amen.
